Order Ticket

The basic Order Ticket is the primary tool at your disposal to place equity, option or futures orders. It allows you to quickly create and place orders in as little as two clicks.

Launching an Order Ticket

An Order Ticket can be opened from any of the following places:

Launching the Order Ticket from the Main Screen

Launching an Order Ticket from the main screen will open a blank ticket.

  1. Click Modules
  2. Select Order Ticket

Launching the Order Ticket from the Order Book

In the "Working Orders" grid area:

  1. Right-click anywhere in the row of the working order
  2. Select Open <security> in Order Ticket

This will open an Order Ticket populated with the exact same position in every field except for Price, which will be set to the current market Bid (if a Sell order) or current market Ask (if a Buy order).

In the "Filled Orders" grid area:

  1. Right-click anywhere in the row of the filled order
  2. Select Open <security> in Order Ticket

This will open an Order Ticket populated with the exact same account and quantity information except Price, which will be set to the current market Bid (if a Sell order) or current market Ask (if a Buy order).

Launching the Order Ticket from the Quote Board

Opening a Buy Order Ticket

  1. Right-click anywhere in the ticker row
  2. Select Open <security> in Order Ticket

-OR-

  • Left-click on the Ask price to expressly populate a Buy Order

The Order ticket is then populated with the Ticker information, Last Price, and set as a Buy Limit Order. All fields can still be edited as necessary.

Opening a Sell Order Ticket

  • Left-click on the Bid price in the row of the security you want to sell.

The Order Ticket will populate as a Sell Limit Order with the current market Bid price set as the limit price. All fields can still be edited as necessary.

Launching the Order Ticket from the Option Chain

Opening a Buy Order Ticket

  1. Right-click a strike row (any column except the "Strike" column)
  2. Select Order Ticket

  1. Left-click on the Ask price in the row of the Strike you want to buy.

    The Order Ticket will populate as a Buy Limit Order for the Strike price of the row you clicked with the current market Ask price set as the limit price. All fields can still be edited as necessary.

Opening a Sell Order Ticket

  1. Left-click on the Bid price in the row of the Strike you want to sell.

    The Order Ticket will populate as a Sell Limit Order for the Strike price of the row you clicked with the current market Bid price set as the limit price. All fields can still be edited as necessary.

Reading the Quote Information on the Order Ticket

The Order Ticket displays live quote data for the security entered into the ticket.

O: Open Price of the day
H: High Price of the day
L: Low Price of the day
Last: Last trade price
(Bid x Ask): Current NBBO Bid and Ask pricing.
Net: Net dollar change in price from the Open on the day
%: Percent change in price from the Open price on the day
Total #: Total number of shares or contracts traded on the day
Last #: Number of shares or contracts traded at the Last price
Exg: Exchange on which the Last trade was executed

Tips:

Clicking on any price quote will populate the Price box with that quoted price.

Click on the "Last #" to populate the "Qty" box with that trade size.

Fill out the Order Ticket and send an order

In this section we will cover how to:

Order Details

Account: Select the account in which the trade will be placed.
Symbol: Type the symbol for the security to be traded. This field will populate automatically in most instances.
Qty: Quantity of shares or contracts to be traded. A default order quantity can be saved in SILEXX OEMS's Settings Menu. Manually type or use the arrows to change the quantity value.
Click the spyglass to populate the ticket with the reverse of an open position.
Price: Set the price for Limit and Stop Limit orders. Will display "0" and be locked for market and Stop orders. Manually type or use the arrows to change the price value.
Click the padlock next to "Price:" to lock/unlock the price field. An unlocked price field will update as the market price of the security changes.
Stop Price: Enter the Stop Price for Stop orders in this field.
Action: Enter the order as a Buy, Sell, or Sell Short order
Order Type: The types of orders supported are: Market, Limit, Stop and Stop Limit orders.
Route: Select the exchange route for the order.
TIF: Time-in-Force
DAY Day order - Order will cancel at the end of regular trading hours
OPG Opening - Enter a Market on Open (MOO) or Limit on Open (LOO) order
IOC Immediate Or Cancel - Fill the order immediately at the limit price or cancel
FOK Fill Or Kill - Fill the order immediately and completely or cancel
GTX Good Till Crossing
GTD Good Till Date
ATC At The Close - Enter a Market on Close (MOC) or Limit on Close (LOC) order at the market close of the day
ETH Extended Trading Hours - Enter the trade in pre or post market hours
GTC Good Till Cancel - The order remains active until canceled

Special Instructions for the Order Ticket

Reserve: Limits how much of your order is displayed on the exchange Order Book (e.g. you want to place an order for 10,000 shares but only want to display 1000 on the order book). Check the box and enter the reserve quantity.
Locate: Used for short sale, hard to borrow stock. Check the box and enter your approved Locate code.
AON: All Or None. Check the box to place the order as an All-or-None order. The order will fill in entirety (no partial fills) or will cancel at the end of the trading day (option orders only).
Instructions: Press this icon to hide / show the "Instructions" panel at the bottom of the ticket

Sending the order

The Send Order button will become active once the order ticket minimum requirements have been met.

An order confirmation window may appear after clicking the Send button.

Click Don't show this Dialog check box to turn off order confirmations.

To toggle on/off order confirmations go to: File -> Settings -> Order Ticket. In the "General" section check the box for Show Order Entry Confirmation

Order Ticket tips & tricks

Quick Price and Quantity Matching

Click any quoted price to populate the Price field with that price value.

Click Last # quantity to populate the Qty field with that quantity value.

Quick Reverse Position

If you have an existing position for the Symbol entered into the order ticket it will show in the lower right corner of the Order Ticket.

Click the spyglass icon next to Qty to populate the Order ticket with the reverse Quantity and Action than that of the existing open position. (I.e. Buy becomes Sell and +10 quantity becomes -10).
